My artwork is born from a method that is very self-reflective.  It's my go-to means for unpacking all the input from the days/weeks/chapters.  So, it goes without saying that these pieces can sometimes have meaning or stories behind them that are quite personal.  That is the case with this piece.  The twisted tumbling figures, the violent swirling black ink strokes, the jarring contrast - it's all meant to reference a chapter of chaos and confusion.  You as the viewer are spared the details, as is the case with most of my artworks.  What's left is the emotion.  I always find myself drawn to artwork that feels at once deeply personal, but still comfortably ambiguous - like reading someone's diary that is written in a language you don't speak... or watching an intense foreign film without subtitles.  I like the idea of sharing in the raw emotions in a way that transcends any specific narrative.  Here, you get a hint, but you're still left to fill in the blanks with your own imagination... to make it about you, as well.  Finding that commonality in feelings that words can't convey is the main goal of the experience I hope viewers of my artwork have.
